Our Chapter History

As Katy, Texas continued to grow and develop as a major Houston area community, the need and opportunity to begin a new National Charity League, Inc. Chapter arose in spring of 2003.  With the guidance and assistance of the Azalea and Katy Chapters, Star Chapter began officially in June of 2003.

On April 7, 2003, founding members, Becky Drake, Blanca Garza, Dianne Gillis-Robinson and Karen Jaggers developed plans to approach NCL, Inc. Board of Directors for permission to begin a new chapter.  Inspired by a unique Mother-Daughter opportunity to grow and learn together through community service, leadership development and cultural experiences, Star Chapter began with more than 100 members eager to build an organization that will serve our area for many years to come.

Our name is inspired by the desire to recognize each of our daughters as a “star” in our lives and community.  Through service to others, our daughters will shine brilliantly.
